Iran: Increase in Criminal Executions Coincides with the Introduction of Khamenei’s New President’s Cabinet, 51 Executions in One Week
29th Week of “No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign” with Political Prisoners’ Hunger Strike in 18 Iranian Prisons
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi: The escalating execution of prisoners only intensifies public anger against the regime. The international community’s inaction encourages the religious dictatorship to persist in its crimes within Iran as well as its terrorism and warmongering abroad.
Simultaneously with the introduction of his new president’s cabinet and the intensification of infighting among religious fascist factions, Ali Khamenei has accelerated the execution of prisoners to create an atmosphere of fear and terror and prevent a popular uprising. Today, Tuesday, August 13, 2024, the executioners hanged a prisoner named Farajollah Jamalzahi in Kerman and two prisoners in Rafsanjan. On Monday, August 12, and Saturday, August 10, in addition to the executions announced in the August 12 statement, 7 other prisoners were hanged by the executioners. In these criminal executions, 22-year-old Ayat Beiranvand and another prisoner on Monday, and on Saturday, Milad Hadipour and Shirzad Reshadat in Khorramabad prison, and 32-year-old Ali Mahdavian and two other prisoners in Tabriz were hanged. Thus, during one week from August 6 to 13, 2024, 51 prisoners were hanged.
On the other hand, today, Tuesday, August 13, 2024, prisoners in 18 prisons across the country held the 29th week of the “No to Execution Tuesdays Campaign” with their hunger strike.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, stated that Khamenei, through the increasing killing spree of the prisoners, is trying to save the despicable system of Velayat-e Faqih from its inevitable downfall and deadly impasses. However, on the contrary, these reckless bloodsheds only intensify the anger of the people and the youth of the country to overthrow this regime. She once again called for urgent international action to save the lives of prisoners sentenced to death and to stop the execution machine in Iran. She emphasized that silence and inaction not only encourage the religious dictatorship ruling Iran to continue its crimes and killings in Iran but also to continue terrorism and warmongering in the region and the world.
