Message of Maryam Rajavi to the Iranians’ demonstration in Paris
Dear friends and supporters of the Iranian Resistance in France,
Fellow Iranians and supporters of the movement,
I wish to send you my salutations for this admirable demonstration, protesting the blatant violations of human rights and the destruction of the environment in Iran by the ruling religious tyranny.
Khomeini and his accomplices commenced their rule by suppression of freedoms. The pillars of their regime were based on a sea of blood spilling from the bodies of Iran’s best children including the victims of the 1988 massacre. Simultaneously, they spread death and destruction everywhere. They destroyed the country’s education, art, and culture; they ruined its social ethics and devastated the economy; they wasted the environment and waged war and terrorism against our neighbors.
This has been Iran’s experience over the past 38 years: The mullahs’ theocracy has literally meant mounting devastation and destruction.
Tyranny and repression have removed every obstacle for Iran’s ruling mullahs in demolishing the environment. Shortage of water and its absence in some regions have created a horrifying prospect and terrible circumstances. Lake Orumiyeh, one of the country’s largest, is drying up. Nothing has remained of the ponds; the trees in the jungles are ruthlessly cut down, and the desert and drought are rapidly spreading.
Air pollution has become intolerable in some cities. Military and security plans as well as the IRGC projects continue to consume what has remained of the country’s exhausted environmental capacities.
The ruling mullahs have so far refused to adopt the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. But whatever their decision, it will not alter the regime’s ravenous destruction of Iran’s climate and environment. They neither have the intention nor the power or funds to bring about such change.
The clerical regime and its IRGC need to stone Iran’s human rights to continue their reign. They need to incessantly damage Iran’s environmental capacities for their military and security plans, including their missile program, to advance their malign objectives. To contain domestic crises and their own instability, they have resorted to war and slaughter of the peoples of the region.
Therefore, the Iranian people’s urgent demand is to bring down the ruling religious dictatorship not only to revive freedom, human rights, justice and the environment in Iran but as a requirement to establish peace and security in the region and around the world.
We urge the international community to condemn the clerical regime’s relentless aggressions on Iran’s environment.
We urge western governments to condition their diplomatic and trade relations with the Iranian regime on end to torture and executions in Iran.
We urge them to undertake binding measures to stop the regime’s missile program and drive out the IRGC and its militias from countries in the region.
We urge them to recognize the Iranian people’s desire and will for regime change in Iran.
Long live freedom
God bless you all
