Maryam Rajavi, was present at the meeting.
Photos of fallen martyrs in last two attacks by Iraqi security forces against residents of Camp Ashraf in 2009 and 2011 in addition to those of MEK political prisoners who were executed in Iranian regime’s jails were display. They were killed in the same period the terror listing was in place. The participants showed their joy with showering the PMOI’s emblem with flower petals. The key note speaker of the event was Maryam Rajavi Representatives of parliamentary delegations from France, Italy, Britain, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, and Iceland, the Netherlands, Algeria and Egypt addressed the gathering. The speakers welcomed de-listing of the main Iranian Resistance as the major obstacle on its path. They expressed their appreciation for Maryam Rajavi’s vigilant and dedicated leadership in delisting campaign; an activity, difficult and breath taking at times. They also reiterated that without Ashraf residents’ commitment and sacrifice such victory would not have been achieved. In reality they are the true symbols of freedom seekers of our time. The participants highlighted the fact that it is time to completely set aside the appeasement policy and recognize the NCRI and pave the way for a democratic change in Iran.Maryam Rajavi congratulated the Iranian people and in particular the women, youths, political prisoners, families of the martyrs and residents of camps Ashraf and Liberty. She reiterated that this is the victory of justice and rule of law over injustice and demonizing campaign. It is a historic one for Iranian people and the biggest defeat for the Iranian regime in the past three decades. She said that de-listing will tip the political balance against the Mullah’s regime and transform the region, Iran and the world. Maryam Rajavi called the de-listing a fruit of a broad campaign for justice and an international campaign of defenders of democratic and human values in today’s world. A movement of legislators, politicians, jurists, human rights activists in five continents who seek regime change for the problem in Iran rather than appeasement of the ruling Mullahs. She welcomed the decision by Secretary Hillary Clinton to de-list the MEK and added that the frantic attacks against de-listing by the Iranian regime and its supporters come from the bankruptcy of the appeasement policy. Maryam Rajavi added that with de-listing of the MEK the regime is rightly frightened of the fact that demonizing the Iranian Resistance is no longer possible. The US citizens and people of the world will realize that our movement is not what the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security has been portraying. It is in fact trying to bring a democratic change in Iran. She said: Calling PMOI a terrorist organization was the biggest error in the international politics. When the most import movement against fundamentalism and terrorism in the world was branded as a terrorist organization, the actual threat of the godfather of fundamentalism and terrorism was all but forgotten. Maryam Rajavi added: The time to set aside this policy is long overdue. We call on the international community to respect the will of the Iranian people for a regime change in Iran. We also call for the recognition of the Iranian Resistance for freedom and democracy. She added: Now, the US has no restrictions in safeguarding the rights of residents in Ashraf and Liberty. Iraqi government should allow them free access to their attorneys and freedom of movement. It should also remove all bans on selling and moving of their fixed and moveable properties. The US should call for Liberty to be declared a refugee camp. Maryam Rajavi said: We are seeking a republic built on the basis of free elections, separation of church and state, gender equality, abolition of death penalty, pluralism, equal rights of ethnic minorities, equal economic opportunities and an independent judiciary and a nuclear free Iran.
