For the first time, COVID-19 cases in Iran surpass 5,000 in 24 hours according to the regime’s Health Ministry
Maryam Rajavi: I condole the bereaving families. With the scarcity of medicines for diabetes, millions of Iranians are at risk. The IRGC, however, fills their own pockets by smuggling these medicines.
The Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran issued a statement announcing: In an unprecedented record, the number of new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours have for the first time surpassed 5,000, reaching 5,039 of whom 2,254 have been hospitalized. This is according to the data manipulated by the regime’s Ministry of Health.
Mardani, member of the scientific committee of the Coronavirus Combat Taskforce, said: “(337 deaths in one day) is not a real figure. To find out how many people really lose their lives every day, one must multiply this number by 2.5 to find the actual number” (The state-run ISNA news agency, October 20, 2020).
Minoo Mohraz, member of the Coronavirus Combat Taskforce, also said: “The situation is very drastic. It is too late for any quarantine. The situation is horrible all across the country. The situation in Tehran is even worse. Based on medical science, there must be a lockdown. The failure to impose a lockdown is based on political considerations not on medical science. Every night of hospitalization of a patient in the ICU costs several million Tomans. In the 45 years of my medical activity, I had never seen so many patients in such critical and fatal conditions. To watch so many people lose their lives also make the medical staff psychologically exhausted” (The state-run Khabarfori.ir, October 20, 2020).
Maryam Rajavi said: I condole the bereaving families. This horrible disaster is the outcome of the criminal and plunderous policies of Khamenei and Rouhani. Instead of providing for the expenses of workers and other toiling sectors, they send them to the killing fields of the coronavirus. Then they shamelessly blame the people for not observing the protocols.
In another example of criminal plunder of the public, the IRGC and the regime’s mafia gangs smuggle medicine to neighboring countries to fill their own pockets or to fund terrorist activities. This is while the scarcity of medicine has posed great risk to the lives of millions of Iranians. The people of Iran cry out that they do not want missiles, but they want medicine. In this way, they express their outrage against the regime.
