Dr. Alejo Vidal Quadras, European Parliament
A member of the Christian Democratic Party and the Popular Party Parliamentary Group, Mr. Alejo Vidal Quadras, told Mrs. Rajavi,
“I sincerely congratulate you for the perseverance and resistance you have shown in standing up for the just rights of your compatriots despite all the hardships, pressures and conspiracies. As a result, today, many, including those in the European Parliament, are paying closer attention to your Resistance. I am confident that with such perseverance you will succeed in this correct path.”
Mr. Alejo Vidal Quadras, European Parliament’s first Vice President, met with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect at her residence in Auvers-sur-Oise on Tuesday, October 19, 2004.
A member of the Christian Democratic Party and the Popular Party Parliamentary Group, Mr. Alejo Vidal Quadras, said, “I sincerely congratulate you for the perseverance and resistance you have shown in standing up for the just rights of your compatriots despite all the hardships, pressures and conspiracies. As a result, today, many, including those in the European Parliament, are paying closer attention to your Resistance. I am confident that with such perseverance you will succeed in this correct path.”
He underscored that change in any country must rely on the people and the resistance movement in that country. “Fortunately in Iran, you represent that resistance. For this reason, change in your country is inevitable,” he added.
Mr. Quadras, said that the continuing presence of the Mojahedin in the list of terrorist organizations, especially after what the organization has endured in Iraq, was no longer warranted and that the designation must be, therefore, set aside. He also condemned the June 17, 2003 raid against the Iranian Resistance in France. “Today, no doubt remains that these actions were part of a deal with the Iranian regime,” Mr. Vidal, said.
Mrs. Rajavi extended her gratitude to Mr. Quadras, and his colleagues in the European Parliament for their unsparing and courageous support for the Iranian Resistance. Mrs. Rajavi added that the Iranian Resistance was only asking Western countries not to offer assistance to the clerical regime, not to put the terror tag on the Iranian Resistance in the context of a deal with the religious dictatorship in Iran and not to take sides in the struggle between the Iranian Resistance and the enemy of Iranian people, i.e., the clerical regime. If that were to happen, said Mrs. Rajavi, the Iranian people would settle their score with the ruling medieval regime. The Iranian regime is on its way out and the future belongs to the Iranian people and Resistance, she added.
