Jean-Pierre Malmendier Member of Parliament from Belgium meets Mrs. Maryam Rajavi
On 29 April Mrs. Maryam Rajavi met with Jean-Pierre Malmendier, a Member of Parliament from Belgium’s Liberal Party and chairman of the Petitions Committee, at her residence in Auvers-sur-Oise, north of Paris.
In this meeting, Mr. Malmendier expressed his dismay at the inclusion of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran in the European Union’s list of terrorist organizations and called it part of a failed policy of appeasement of the Islamic fundamentalist regime in Iran.
“The Mojahedin’s resistance against the mullahs’ regime is very similar to our fathers’ anti-fascist movement during the Nazi’s occupation of Belgium,” the Belgian lawmaker said.
“The Third Reich and its allies called freedom fighters ‘terrorists’ at that time, but after World War II they were revered as national heroes by the people. I see the PMOI’s fight for freedom as being parallel to our own resistance at that time,” he added. The Belgian lawmaker said, “The Mojahedin’s resistance against the mullahs’ regime is very similar to our fathers’ anti-fascist movement during the Nazi’s occupation of Belgium,” …

Mr. Malmendier stated that in the Belgian Parliament representatives of all parties, both those in the ruling coalition and those in the opposition, support the PMOI. He added that the ‘Third Option’ proposed by Mrs. Rajavi, rejecting appeasement as well as foreign military intervention, is the only solution to the Iranian people’s desire for democracy and serves the cause of world peace and security.
Mrs. Rajavi thanked Mr. Malmendier for his speech at the Iranian Convention in Belgium for Democracy in Iran and noted that the presence of Members of the European Parliament and the Belgian Parliament and Senate from different Parties in such a grand gathering was another sign of growing recognition of the Iranian Resistance on the international scene.
