Iran: Two Killed in Daniyal Mazandan as Regime Agents Use Force to Seize People’s Lands
On Saturday, April 15, residents of Daniyal village in Motel-Qoo, Abbas Abad (Mazandaran province), resisted the regime’s Endowment Organization’s attempt to take over their land. In response, the repressive forces opened fire, resulting in the death of two residents and the injury of five others.
The prosecutor’s office agents, in cooperation with the endowment department, went to Daniyal village with a fake endowment letter and accompanied by the repressive police force to confiscate large portions of people’s land and pastures. The people of the village rose up to oppose the takeover and were met with repressive force, resulting in the deaths of two young men named Siamak Kalari and Mirza Ali Kalari due to bullet wounds.
After the crime, enraged locals headed towards the city center of Motel-Qoo and set ablaze the endowment office of the regime and the Friday prayer imam’s office. In an attempt to stop people from burying the dead bodies, the repressive forces tried to take them away from the morgue, but they were met with strong resistance from the locals. However, the people managed to overcome the authorities and were able to bury the deceased on Sunday.
The regime-affiliated media attempted to portray the conflict as a dispute among the locals. However, the regime’s official news agency acknowledged: “At 9:00 am today on April 15, 2023, the General Endowment Trustee’s directorate of Daniyal attempted to install a fence and set up a container for land ownership in this village, which was met with opposition from the locals. As a result of the officers’ attack, two people were killed and five others were injured, and four cars belonging to police and the Endowment representative were destroyed.”
As reported by the state-run News Network, Shams al-Din Hosseini, a member of parliament, declared today that “due to the greed of an individual or individuals who attempted to seize land in the village under the guise of an endowment using an unknown endowment letter, two individuals were killed, and several villagers were injured… It is the responsibility of the police, the judiciary, and the Endowments Organization to be held accountable and to seek justice for the unjust deaths of these two innocent villagers.”
The confiscation of agricultural lands, mountains, forests, plains, and seas has become a major source of revenue for the IRGC and other criminal organizations affiliated with the regime. Unfortunately, this exploitation has resulted in a larger portion of the population becoming impoverished and homeless.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), expressed her condolences and sympathies to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. She also commended the people of Daniyal Mazandaran for standing up against the oppression and looting perpetrated by Khamenei’s regime and its repressive forces. Mrs. Rajavi urged the youth to resist against the regime’s brutality, forcing its mercenaries to withdraw. She emphasized that this regime only understands the language of firmness and decisiveness.
