Iranian Resistance Strongly Condemns Terrorist Crime Against Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras and Calls for Comprehensive Investigation

This afternoon, Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, the President of the International Committee In Search of Justice and Vice President of the European Parliament (1999-2014), was the target of a terrorist attack in Madrid. Riding on a motorcycle, assailants attempted an act of terror, resulting in his hospitalization and subsequent surgery after being targeted by gunmen from the opposite direction.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), vehemently condemned this terrorist crime and, while expressing swift recovery wishes for Mr. Vidal-Quadras and deep solidarity with his family, called for the prosecution of the perpetrators and masterminds of this terrorist act and their punishment.
Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, a prominent Spanish politician and former head of the People’s Party in Catalonia, who served as the Vice President of the European Parliament for 15 years, has consistently supported the Iranian people‘s resistance for freedom and human rights over the past quarter-century. He played a key and unforgettable role in delisting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) from the terrorist list, and in ensuring the protection of the MEK in Camp Ashraf (Iraq) and their safe and collective relocation out of Iraq.
The enmity of the mullahs’ regime towards Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras is common knowledge, being one of the first politicians placed by the regime on its terrorist list. From the Iranian Resistance’s perspective, the primary suspect is the religious fascism ruling Iran, which Dr. Vidal-Quadras has dedicated a significant part of his life to the struggle against it.
