The extension of the mandates of the International Fact-Finding Mission and the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran is a necessary step in confronting the systematic violations of human rights and crimes against humanity committed by the Iranian regime as noted in the latest reports of the UNSR and the Fact-Finding Mission. This step must be complemented with subsequent measures, particularly the referral of the dossier of the clerical regime’s crimes to the UN Security Council.
The mullahs’ regime has been consistently involved in crimes against humanity and genocide over the past four decades. The massacre of the people of Kurdistan, the mass executions in the 1980s, the massacre of political prisoners in 1988, the massacre of PMOI members in Ashraf and Liberty camps, the slaughter of 1,500 unarmed protesters in November 2019, and the killing of the people in Middle East countries are among the crimes committed by the mullahs.
The clerical regime’s current leaders, including Ali Khamenei, Ebrahim Raisi, Gholam-Hossein Ejei, and Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf have been involved in all of the above crimes, for which they must face justice.
