Hamid Noury’s release and his return to Iran encourages crimes against humanity, terrorism, and hostage-taking
Iranian Resistance had warned last week about the disgraceful deal for the release of this executioner
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi: All prisoners, torture survivors, plaintiffs, families of the massacre victims, and the entire Iranian nation strongly condemn the release of Hamid Noury. They neither forgive nor forget.
The release of Hamid Noury, one of the perpetrators of the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners, 90% of whom were members and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organizaion of Iran (PMOI/MEK), is a shameful and unjustifiable act. It encourages the mullahs’ regime, their torturers, and executioners to continue genocide, crimes against humanity, hostage-taking, and terrorism. This is a betrayal of human rights and a desecration of the blood of all those who were executed and tortured. Returning this criminal to the regime reassures the ruling mullahs in Iran that if their terrorists and torturers, like Assadollah Assadi and Hamid Noury, are apprehended by justice in other countries, they can reclaim them through hostage-taking.
The initial plan of the Ministry of Intelligence was to prevent Hamid Noury from being convicted, or at least from receiving a long prison sentence, through staging and manipulation by its agents and mercenaries. However, this plan was thwarted by the testimonies of prisoners, particularly the transfer of the court to Albania, the hearings of the PMOI members in Ashraf 3, and more than two years of demonstrations, gatherings, and protest actions by supporters of the Iranian Resistance.
On June 8, the Judiciary Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) had warned about the back-channel deals with clerical regime to secure the release of henchman Noury and its repercussions.
While the United Nations Fact-Finding Commission, which was elected with the vote of Sweden among others, has called on countries worldwide to prosecute and hold accountable those responsible for crimes against humanity in Iran within their own judicial systems, the release of the executioner Hamid Noury is a violation of Sweden’s international commitments. It is also a blatant disrespect to the judiciary, judges, and prosecutors of Sweden, who now see the results of their efforts lost.
On May 27, 2024, Kazem Gharibabadi, the Judiciary’s deputy for international affairs, said in a meeting with Noury’s son that “all relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Human Rights Headquarters, and the International Affairs Department of the Judiciary, are working to gain the release of Hamid Noury.”
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), declared that all prisoners, torture victims, plaintiffs, families of massacre victims, and the entire Iranian nation vehemently condemn the disgraceful release of Hamid Noury. They neither forgive nor forget.
As stated in the NCRI Committee of Judiciary statement on 19 December 2023, from August 2021 to November 2023, freedom-loving Iranians and supporters of the Resistance held 121 demonstrations, rallies, protest actions, and press conferences outside both courts in Stockholm. Many of the rallies and demonstrations occurred under adverse weather conditions, even with temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius.
Surrendering to the criminal mullahs and hostage-takers emboldens them to further turn Swedish territory into a roaming ground for their terrorist activities.
