Mrs. Rajavi Issues Urgent International Appeal to Save Death Row Prisoners and Bring Regime Leaders to Justice
Updated reports confirm at least 29 prisoners were executed on Wednesday, August 7 – 26 in Qezelhessar Prison and 3, including 2 women, in Karaj Central Prison. On the verge of announcing his new president’s cabinet and fearing potential uprisings, Ali Khamenei has set a grim new record for executions, unseen in the last three decades.
The death toll from executions over the past four days has now reached 42. This marks a ruthless retaliation by Khamenei, the regime’s judiciary, the Revolutionary Guards, and the new president against Iranian citizens calling for an end to the ruling religious dictatorship.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), expressed her condolences to the victims’ families today. She stated that these indiscriminate killings will only strengthen the resolve of the Iranian people and rebellious youth to overthrow the regime. Mrs. Rajavi called for immediate action from the UN and EU to save death row prisoners and refer Iran’s human rights violations to the UN Security Council, urging that the regime’s leaders be brought to justice.
