Maryam Rajavi Meets with Gilbert Mitterrand, President of the France Libertés Foundation

On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Maryam Rajavi met with Mr. Gilbert Mitterrand, President of the France Libertés Foundation, former member of the French Parliament, and former Mayor of Libourne.
During the meeting, Maryam Rajavi paid tribute to the late Mrs. Danielle Mitterrand, saying: “Danielle was a symbol of human values. She stood by us during difficult times, sending letters and messages of support to the residents of Ashraf.”
Mr. Mitterrand expressed his gratitude for honoring his mother’s memory, stating: She always followed your struggle closely and saw in you a source of hope and faith in victory.
Referring to recent developments, Mr. Mitterrand remarked: The Iranian regime has grown extremely weak, and the situation in the Middle East remains highly volatile. Circumstances are shifting. The idea of freedom is deeply rooted among the people, and it will undoubtedly prevail. I believe the conditions now are such that the balance in your fight against the regime will soon tip in favor of the Resistance.
Maryam Rajavi responded: “For over 60 years, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has fought against two dictatorships — the Shah and the mullahs — with a determined and experienced cadre, presenting an alternative based on freedom and gender equality. This Resistance is the undeniable guarantee of democracy and freedom in Iran’s future, free from the clerical regime. Today, the regime is besieged by domestic and international crises. Particularly after the fall of the Syrian dictator and the collapse of its regional shield, it is more vulnerable than ever. Any investment by foreign powers in this regime will yield nothing but losses.”
