Message for Christmas and the New Year 2025

Maryam Rajavi: The Birth of Christ is a Message of Liberation, Freedom, and Justice for Enslaved Humanity

Merry Christmas to our Christian compatriots and all followers of Christ.
Hail to Jesus Christ, the great prophet of God, the messenger of freedom for the oppressed and the afflicted, and an everlasting inspiration to those who rise in the pursuit of liberty.
I also hail the Virgin Mary, who stood resolute in defending Jesus Christ and His redemptive message, courageously confronting the monstrous forces of evil and darkness of her time and becoming an eternal emblem of purity and liberation.
The birth of Jesus, son of Mary, has always carried a message of liberation, freedom, and justice for a humanity bound in chains—from its inception to this very day.
It is the same joyous news proclaimed by God’s angels to the downtrodden and afflicted: “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today, a Savior has been born.”

This day stands as a beacon of hope for those “persecuted because of righteousness,”[1] for “those who mourn,” and for “those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.”

It is a promise that whoever rises in the fight for freedom, and “the one who seeks finds.”[2]

Truly, “everything is possible for one who believes.”

Christ: A Message of Freedom for the Oppressed

In recent weeks, one of the most ruthless dictatorships in modern history—a staunch ally of the ruling religious fascism in Iran—was overthrown in Syria. This hopeful event, unfolding on the eve of Christmas, echoes the timeless message of Christ: the oppressed shall be set free.
It is also a beacon of hope for the people of Iran, who will undoubtedly break free from the chains of the mullahs’ tyranny.
Faced with the deadlock of inevitable overthrow, the ruling mullahs have escalated their campaign of repression—executing Iran’s youth on a daily basis, waging war on freedom, entrenching their misogyny, and intensifying their persecution and discrimination against ethnic minorities and followers of various faiths across the nation.
They feel no shame in robbing the last piece of bread from the tables of the impoverished. Tens of millions across the country are held hostage by soaring prices, poverty, unemployment, and crises in electricity, water, and polluted air.

Yet, in diametric opposition to them, the liberating messages of Christ—alongside the teachings of Moses and Muhammad—have continuously illuminated the path of all oppressed peoples in their struggle for freedom, justice, and salvation.[3]

The workers fighting for justice, the courageous members of the Resistance Units, and the brave women and men who work tirelessly, day and night, to prepare for the uprising, are bringing closer the moment when the tyranny of the mullahs will be overthrown, and Khamenei’s infamous prisons will be dismantled across Iran.

On this sacred night, we pray for the salvation of the suffering people of the region—those who spent the past year grieving the loss of tens of thousands of their loved ones and enduring the displacement and homelessness of millions.

Tonight, we also pray for the freedom of our oppressed compatriots and for the liberation of a captive Iran. We ask the Almighty for strength and guidance in realizing this noble goal.

Hail to Jesus Christ, the messenger of freedom and justice, and to Mary, the Virgin, to whom we bow in reverence.

On behalf of the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance, I extend heartfelt wishes for a happy New Year as we welcome 2025. May it be a year filled with joy and prosperity for all.
