Meeting with Former Polish Foreign Minister Anna Fotyga

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Maryam Rajavi met with Anna Fotyga, former Foreign Minister of Poland, to discuss the latest developments in Iran and the region. Ms. Fotyga has previously served as the Chief of Staff to the President of Poland and as a Member of the European Parliament.
Maryam Rajavi expressed her gratitude for Ms. Fotyga’s unwavering support for the Iranian people and the Iranian Resistance, particularly during her ten-year tenure in the European Parliament. She stated, “Today, more than ever, the clerical regime is on the verge of collapse. We are witnessing an explosive society and a well-organized resistance movement across Iran.”
She further described Ms. Fotyga and her colleagues’ support for the Iranian people’s struggle as a source of encouragement for those leading the uprising. Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that the people of Iran will never forget those who stood by them in their most challenging times.
Ms. Fotyga expressed her appreciation for the meeting, noting that Poland had experienced a period of resistance and that she deeply understood the hardships endured over more than four decades of struggle against the Iranian regime.
She acknowledged the significance of global and international support for anti-dictatorship fighters and stressed the importance of standing by the Iranian people, especially when they take to the streets.
Ms. Fotyga further stated that negotiations with the Iranian regime would yield no results and only serve the ruling dictatorship. In her view, pursuing dialogue with the regime was futile. She also pointed out that the policy of appeasement had worked against both the interests of the Iranian people and those of the West.
Expressing hope for the success of the Iranian people’s uprising, she wished for the swift overthrow of the regime and the establishment of freedom and democracy in Iran.
