A Look at the Free Iran 2024 World Summit
The Free Iran 2024 World Summit took place over three days, featuring Maryam Rajavi. Tens of thousands of freedom-loving Iranians in Berlin and PMOI members in Ashraf-3 were connected via video link to the event.
On the first day, Maryam Rajavi began her address with the following remarks:
“Your massive rally today in Berlin represents a continuation of the Iranian people’s triumph in the nationwide boycott of Khamenei’s elections.
“This uproar of the Iranian people declares to the world that the overthrow of the Velayat-e faqih regime is inevitable and that freedom, democracy, and equality will be established in Iran, and peace will be secured in the Middle East.”
She highlighted that the clerical regime’s fraudulent presidential elections were the result of the impasse and the major failures that plagued the regime, signaling an impending dark period for the mullahs’ regime.
Distinguished political figures from around the world attended the gathering, emphasizing that the National Council of Resistance of Iran and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, due to their organizational capacity both inside Iran and abroad, are uniquely positioned to challenge the Iranian regime.
Mike Pence, the former Vice President of the United States, said: “Because of all of you, the winds of change are blowing in Iran stronger than ever before.” He praised the National Council of Resistance’s readiness for leadership and stated: “I want the wider world to understand that MEK and the NCRI share the same values that Western nations hold dear.”
He described Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for the future of Iran as extending “political, social, and economic equality to women” and ensuring “the freedom of expression, the freedom of assembly, and guarantee the right of every Iranian.”
Stephen Harper, the former Prime Minister of Canada, emphasized the National Council of Resistance’s capability as an alternative and said: “The alternative to the regime is not chaos, it is this, Iran’s well-organized and democratic opposition.” He described the National Council of Resistance as having “long-standing organization and deep social roots,” with “an active network inside and outside of Iran and capable leadership.”
Harper stated that the NCRI’s programs are based on “a commitment to free elections, the rejection of the present and past forms of dictatorship, freedom of assembly and expression, pluralism and the rule of law, human rights and gender equality, the separation of religion and state, the acceptance of Iran’s religious and ethnic diversity, and most importantly for the international community, a non-nuclear state at peace with the world.”
John Bercow, the former Speaker of the House of Commons in the United Kingdom, praised the National Council of Resistance’s Ten-Point Plan as “one of the most eloquent articulate, and comprehensive statements of alternative that any Democrat could wish to see.”
Speakers also emphasized the vital role of the Resistance Units inside Iran, noting that “this organization has long-standing and deep social roots,” with “an active network both inside and outside Iran and capable leadership.”
Liz Truss, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, emphasized the importance of supporting the Iranian Resistance and said: “We should never ever give up on the idea of a free and democratic Iran.” She called for increased pressure on the regime and support for those seeking change, stating: “We need to step up our efforts to stop the supply of funding to the Iranian regime, to increase the sanctions on the regime.”
Ingrid Betancourt, the former Colombian senator, noted: “In France, only in France, the majority of Congress signed a petition in support of Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan. The same happened in the United States, with over 230 bipartisan members of Congress. More than 500 cross-party representatives in the British Parliament and numerous Nobel laureates also showed their support.”
Speakers at the Free Iran 2024 World Summit presented a united front in support of the National Council of Resistance as the most enduring and resilient front.
