She urged support for the solution for Ashraf provided by the European Parliament’s delegation to Iraq.
Maryam Rajavi stated: A month and a half after the massacre of April 8, no independent investigation has been conducted on this massacre. She warned that the presence of Iraqi military forces inside Ashraf and the construction of military fortifications, together with numerous indications received from Tehran and Baghdad, all testify to the ominous intents of the clerical regime and its proxies in Iraq for a massacre of a larger scale. Maryam Rajavi reminded that inattentiveness to numerous warnings by the Iranian Resistance and many international parties regarding the objectives of the Iranian regime and the Iraqi government in the past years and months opened the way for attacks on Ashraf and the massacres of July 2009 and April 2011.
Maryam Rajavi urged Ms. Ashton to assist with the implementation of the solution put forward by the European Parliament for a peaceful resolution of Ashraf issue and to prevent another humanitarian catastrophe. This solution guarantees the protection of Ashraf residents until their final disposition. To this end, she called on Ms. Ashton to adopt the necessary measures for the stationing of a permanent monitoring team from the United Nations or the European Union in Ashraf and to call on EU member states for a higher level of cooperation, especially on the transfer of patients and the injured.
