Iran’s political and social spring is on the horizon

Maryam Rajavi’s message on the Persian New Year 1404

Dear compatriots!
It is a great joy for me to be with you today, celebrating both the Annual Feast of Fire and the New Year. You, who cast all sorrows into the flames, and in return, embrace its vibrant, fiery glow.
On the advent of the New Year, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you, the freedom-seeking and honorable people of Iran.
The prayer of Nowruz:
Oh Turner of hearts and sights, You who can transform hearts and minds.
Master of the ever revolving night and day,
Oh You who change states and topple systems and governments,
We beseech You to change our state to one far greater.
Grant us the dawn of the best of times for our people and homeland— to the freedom and sovereignty of the Iranian people’s republic.
With my warmest congratulations to all of you, and with unwavering hope and certainty in the glorious victory of freedom.

Celebrating Nowruz in Defiance of the Tyrant of Our Time

Although our people’s lives are shattered daily by soaring prices, unemployment, homelessness, and countless hardships; although they are worn down by the relentless weight of repression, discrimination, and misogyny, they still embrace Nowruz —a timeless symbol of resilience and defiance— against the tyrant of our time.
Workers, nurses, retirees, and teachers driven to their limits, yet unwavering ensure the streets are never empty of protest and rebellion;
Mothers and relatives of martyrs in the struggle for freedom;
Prisoners, with their “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign;
Resistance Units who pierce the darkness of our homeland with the light of their selfless struggle;
The freedom-fighters in Ashraf and the supporters of the Iranian Resistance, everywhere;
The National Council of Resistance of Iran, now entering its forty-fourth spring since its founding.
And Massoud Rajavi, with his eloquent words: “Blessed be the year of rebellion and uprising to break the regime’s yoke.”

The Revolutionary State of Iranian Society for the Overthrow of the Regime

Compatriots!
The year 1404 heralds a new era in Iranian society, history, and the destiny of Iran and Iranians. It is a time of change.
The year 1403 was marked with blows and defeats for the Velayat-e Faqih regime.
May 1404 be a year of progress and victory for the people of Iran. Yes, the time for a great housecleaning in Iran has come.
The turbaned tyrant and the entirety of his regime, with 1,142 recorded executions this year, represent the gloom and antiquity of winter. Instead, a blessed era is dawning—the era of the people’s sovereignty, a flourishing garden of freedom and justice, the spring of silenced talents, and a season where a hundred flowers, and a thousand flowers, will bloom in defiance.
The time for a great reckoning has arrived led by the architects of the Iranian people’s democratic revolution.

This New Year marks a turning point in the revolution’s path. At the start of last year, we declared that 1403 would be the year of besieging the mullahs’ regime —and, indeed, we witnessed that during the year its stronghold in the region was toppled, Khamenei’s hegemony suffered a crushing blow, its main proxy forces were crippled, and its already fragile social base fractured and collapsed. Now, the regime stands at a dead end—caught between the choices of suicide or demise.
However, on the side of the people, on the frontlines of resistance, uprising and overthrow, a new ear has begun— an era of expanding Resistance Units, of struggle and defiance in rebellious cities, and of an organized uprising is at hand.
Truly, what greater news could there be than the revolutionary fervor rising within our society, ready to overthrow this regime?

This season is the season of flight,
the season when leaves begin to sprout.
A season of defiance against the cruelty of the earth,
of breaking free from the grip of death.

The truth is undeniable: the Velayat-e Faqih regime has never been as weak, as paralyzed, as it is today.
Never before has it been so utterly devoid of solutions.
And this is the resounding call of our Iran: Rise, for this is our time!

Let them once again roll out their weekly indictments in sham absentia trial against the PMOI, against the Resistance, and against the revolution—just as they have for the past two years. Indeed, what greater honor than being relentlessly indicted by the Shah and the mullahs?
Yet, the indictment of the heroic people and the champions of freedom against this regime continues as well. In the end, light will conquer darkness, and justice shall prevail.
In the same sham court, a regime expert quoted an Ayatollah named Anvari, who had been imprisoned by the Shah, as saying that while imprisoned by the SAVAK, Massoud Rajavi was saying: “Our battle is between the Islam of the Mojahedin and the Islam of Khomeini.”
At one point, they also quoted me in this courtroom as saying, “We have never accepted the mullahs’ God from the very beginning.”
I have said it before, and I will say it again: The mullahs are peddlers of religion, the worst enemies of Islam, and their God is an idol of torture and execution. How fortunate are the PMOI, who have unmasked the Islam of the Velayat-e Faqih as a source of shame and revulsion for all.
The religion of executions and massacres, the religion of plunder and lies, and the religion of amputations and brutality practiced by the mullahs is now headed toward its historic grave.
Now is the time for the regime—one that has failed both in its backward and reactionary ideology and its inhumane strategy—to be overthrown.

The Revolution and Freedom Must Blossom

After 46 years of suffering and hardship for the Iranian people, in this most critical and decisive phase of shaping our destiny, we place our trust in a society restless for freedom. We draw strength from the immense, explosive energy surging within it—an army of countless aware and determined young women and men, millions of workers and laborers who wholeheartedly seek change and the regime’s overthrow, and thousands upon thousands of skilled specialists, experienced professionals in healthcare, education, and technical fields, all standing firm on the anti-regime front. Added to this are millions of Iranians abroad, including a long line of devoted scientists and experts, all of whom embody the force for freedom, prosperity, and progress in tomorrow’s Iran.
They are the ones who reject both the mullahs and the monarchs. They seek neither despotism nor dictatorship, but freedom and a democratic republic.

A free, non-nuclear Iran with the separation of religion and state

Yes, our Iran possesses everything needed for freedom and for rebuilding the country after the regime’s overthrow. It has both a credible alternative—the National Council of Resistance of Iran—and a people who have risen to claim their future.
The religious dictatorship, with all its evils, must be uprooted entirely—from its torture chambers and IRGC bases to its nuclear weapons program.

Just a few days ago, in a trembling and fearful speech to the regime’s operatives in universities, Khamenei once again denied his intent to build nuclear weapons. But if this claim were anything other than a blatant lie—which it is—then why has the regime funneled over two trillion dollars of the impoverished people’s wealth into its nuclear program over the past 30 years? A program so wasteful that it does not even contribute 2% to the country’s electricity needs.
Meanwhile, winter and summer alike, the Iranian people suffer as their lives, education, healthcare, production, and businesses are paralyzed by relentless power shortages.
The people of Iran are determined to put an end to this. For years, we have declared and we repeat today: A free and non-nuclear Iran, with the separation of religion and state, and a democratic republic free from both mullahs and monarchs.
In the face of the regime’s malign activities, the international community must no longer delay the activation of the snapback mechanism. This regime is a threat to global peace and security and must be placed under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
The ultimate solution to the mullahs’ terrorism, warmongering, and nuclear weapons program is the regime’s overthrow—a task that is the responsibility of the Iranian people through resistance, uprising, and the Army of Freedom.
The struggle of the Iranian people to overthrow the regime, along with the fight of the Resistance Units and rebellious youth against the IRGC, is not only a patriotic duty but also the legitimate right of the Iranian people. The world must recognize this right.
Iran’s political and social spring is on the horizon. The revolution and the blossoming of freedom must be realized. This is our solemn duty and sacred mission— a mission for which we fight, sacrifice, and reclaim our homeland, Iran.
The coming year is one of rising and achieving.
May 1404 be a year of victory and prosperity!
