Condolences on the passing of a great man, François Colcombet
Salute to a staunch supporter of the Iranian people’s Resistance and one of the contemporary honors of France!
I salute François Colcombet who was the vigilant eye and the outspoken tongue of the French conscience versus those who sacrifice freedom, resistance, and human rights for petty interests.
On June 17, 2003, when the French security and police forces stormed the headquarters of the National Council of Resistance, at the behest of the clerical regime and based on a shameful deal, the prominent lawyer and co-founder of the French Judges’ Syndicate, François Colcombet stood by renowned figures of the French anti-fascist Resistance of France, like including Daniel Mitterrand, Abe Pierre, and Lucie Aubrac, and many other human rights defenders. Together, they defended the Iranian people’s just resistance of targeted in treacherous cases and grave injustices.
Additionally, he worked tirelessly to protect the rights of PMOI members who were besieged in Ashraf, Iraq.
His frank and courageous words reflected his purity and rejection of power and position, as well as his unwavering dedication to freedom and resistance. He fearlessly exposed the ugliness of those who dealt with the regime.
In his final letter to me, despite his life-threatening illness, he wrote, “There is no need to reiterate my sorrow for the cowardice of governments that behave fearfully and even disgustingly towards the Iranian regime. Please remember that I am a loyal supporter of your fight and, besides wishing you victory, I also express my sincere friendship with you and your movement.”
I would like to extend my condolences to François Colcombet’s family, especially his beloved wife, as well as his friends and colleagues, and to the people of France.
François Colcombet’s legacy as a true defender of justice, human rights, and democracy, as well as a staunch supporter of the Iranian people’s resistance, will be forever etched in the annals of Iran’s history of resistance and fight for freedom.
François Colcombet was indeed one of the contemporary honors of France. His memory will be everlasting, and unforgettable.
