Iran: 10 prisoners hanged in Gohardasht prison
Maryam Rajavi: Criminal executions are a sign of the mullahs’ desperation in the face of an explosive society; but they will not escape inevitable overthrow.
Call for immediate action to save lives of thousands of prisoners on death row and to refer the dossier of human rights violations in Iran to UNSC
On Wednesday, June 29, in a heinous crime, the clerical regime hanged 10 prisoners en masse in Gohardasht Prison in Karaj. On June 22, two prisoners were executed in Karaj Central Prison and a Baluch prisoner in Jiroft, and on June 23, another prisoner was executed in Kerman.
Unable to confront uprisings and social protests, and to create an atmosphere of terror, the religious fascism ruling in Iran has stepped up mass executions. Last Iranian month, at least 100 prisoners were hanged in different cities of the country, unprecedented in the last seven years.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said the criminal executions were a sign of the ruling mullahs’ desperation in the face of an explosive society. However, this medieval regime cannot not escape its inevitable overthrow. She called on the international community to take immediate action to save the lives of thousands of prisoners on death row, and to refer human rights abuses in Iran to the UN Security Council. She emphasized that the regime leaders must be brought to justice for four decades of crimes against humanity and genocide.
