Maryam Rajavi: The debate on the Iranian regime’s state-sponsored terrorism in light of recent attacks in Europe; it is high time for action
The debate on the Iranian regime’s “state-sponsored terrorism,” in light of recent attacks in Europe, is a very positive step. However, since various European courts have confirmed the active role of the Iranian regime, its leaders, and agencies in terrorist crimes, it is high time for action.
The least action that has been long overdue is the designation of the IRGC and the Intelligence Ministry as terrorist entities and expulsion of their agents. Another necessary step is for the European countries to close down the clerical regime’s embassies and other official and unofficial centers.
In two weeks, we mark the anniversary of the attempted assassination of Dr. Vidal-Quadras, the former Vice-President of the European Parliament, by a criminal gang linked to the Iranian regime. It is time to end inaction and hold the regime accountable for its crimes.
Export of terrorism, hostage-taking, and warmongering are the other side of atrocity crimes committed by Iran’s despotic rulers, including crimes against humanity and genocide. Additionally, suppression, torture, and executions are religious fascism’s main tools to confront the Iranian people’s uprising and fend off its overthrow.
At least 147 prisoners were executed in Iran between September 22 and October 21, an unprecedented record even compared to the tenure of Ebrahim Raisi, notorious for his role in the massacre of 1988.
In their weakest position, the ruling mullahs have found no recourse but to escalate killings within Iran, as well as to engage in terrorism and warmongering abroad.
