In memory of Lord Cotter, a Prominent Supporter of the Iranian Resistance
With deep reverence, I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Lord Cotter, a cherished and esteemed ally of the Iranian Resistance, to his family and colleagues in the British Parliament.
Lord Cotter’s legacy is marked by pioneering efforts to seek justice for the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners and his staunch defense of the rights of PMOI members in Ashraf, Iraq. His collaboration with Lord Robin Corbett in the British Committee for Iran Freedom symbolized an unparalleled political and legal campaign, aiming to remove the PMOI from the list of proscribed groups in the UK—an action initially influenced by the mullahs’ regime.
Most recently, on October 23, 2023, Lord Cotter and dozens of other members from both houses of the UK parliament urged the government to designate the clerical regime’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity. They stressed, “Such a decision would constitute a significant step towards peace, stability, and justice in the Middle East and beyond.”
I salute Lord Cotter, who stood alongside the Iranian people and Resistance for freedom, peace, and justice during one of the darkest chapters in Iranian history. His stance stood in stark contrast to the ongoing policy of appeasement toward the belligerent religious fascism. I firmly believe that freedom-loving individuals like him hold a special place in the Iranian people‘s history of the struggle for liberty.
