The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced on Thursday, May 14, 2020, that the Coronavirus fatalities in 317 cities in Iran have risen to 41,500. In his lies today, Rouhani claimed success in managing and controlling the Coronavirus crisis: “The cohesion and unity of officials at various levels across the country have been one of the most important factors in the success of managing and controlling the deadly Coronavirus…. As the number of virus-free cities increases and we are approaching to the virus containment phase, other more high-density businesses, and centers, such as stadiums and cultural centers, can also be reopened.”
But an hour later, a spokesman for the Health Ministry quoted by the official state news agency, IRNA, announced that 71 people had died, and 1,808 had been infected in the past 24 hours, adding that 2,758 people were “in critical condition.” Referring to the crisis in Khuzestan, he warned, “North Khorasan may also suffer from the situation in Khuzestan.”
Meanwhile, one after another, the regime officials and state media in different provinces are announcing an increase in the number of patients. “Today, the Corona-bomb exploded in Khuzestan province, and the figures are extraordinary with some 550 cases of infections in one day in Khuzestan province,” the state-run TV in Khuzestan reported last night. Yesterday, Alireza Bahadory, Behbahan’s mayor, told Tasnim, Quds Force News Agency, “With much regret, we declared a red state in the city… and we call on the people to observe home quarantine 100% and leave the streets. Of course, the order to turn off the lights in the parks and to block the road to the Cemetery was also issued immediately.”
On May 14, Hossein Farshidi, the president of the University of Medical Sciences in Hormozgan told the state-run daily, Asre-Iran, “The increase in positive cases of Coronavirus in the recent week is worrying and dangerous. In case of an increase in the number of people infected, the reopening will be reconsidered.”
On May 13, Ahmad Safari, a member of the regime’s parliament from Kermanshah told Khaneh-Melat website: “The shortage of medical equipment is quite noticeable and does not cover the population of Kermanshah province … Due to the lack of diagnostic equipment, test results sometimes take about a week, and this increases the possibility of other people getting infected.”
According to Tasnim daily, on May 14, Jaafar Toulabi, the governor of Khorramabad announced that: “Due to the increase in the number of infected patients in Lorestan Province and the announcement of the red status in Khorramabad and several other cities…the governors have been granted jurisdictions to impose appropriate restrictions relevant to their cities.”
According to IRGC affiliated Fars news agency on May 14, 2020, the head of the Coronavirus headquarters in Qeshm said, “In recent days, we have noted an increase in the number of people infected with the Coronavirus in Qeshm.”
Contrary to the Ministry of Health announcement that the situation had turned from red to yellow, Fars reported today that the governor of Qom had announced: “This province is still the epicenter of the crisis.”
Quoting Massoud Mardani, member of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT), Fars reported yesterday, “Now that the number of people infected with the Coronavirus is rising day by day, we should not expect fall in the number of deaths in the coming days … The number infected is on the rise.”
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), referring to Hassan Rouhani’s claims, said: No one in Iran takes the bluff by this deceitful mullah seriously. Everyone knows that he has been pursuing a policy of maximum deception and lies since day one, when he claimed he was informed about the disease, to the statistics of hospital beds, and the export of masks and equipment which Germany and Turkey denied receiving.
