Iran: Courageous upheaval of the people of Saravan, taking over of the Governorate
Maryam Rajavi: Hail to those who gave their lives in Saravan; they are martyrs to the cause of freedom
Hail to those who gave their lives in Saravan; they are martyrs to the cause of freedom. I wish for quick recovery of the injured. And I call on the courageous youths in Sistan and Baluchestan to rise up and support the people of Saravan. The clerical regime will be held accountable for this bloodshed.
Hail to the heroic people of Saravan who stood up to the oppression and discrimination of the religious dictatorship. This is the only way for the people of Iran to achieve their rights in the face of the mullahs’ vicious regime. I call on the courageous youths of Iran particularly in Sistan and Baluchestan to rise up and support the people of Saravan.
The NCRI Secretariat issued a statement in which it said:
The people of Saravan took to the streets this morning, Tuesday, February 23, and marched to the Governorate’s building. Criminal Revolutionary Guards fired shots and tear gas to disperse the protesting public. The angry protesters, however, confronted the Revolutionary Guards and took over the Governorate.
Reports say more people have been killed or wounded.
Today’s incidents come in the wake of clashes yesterday between the people of Saravan and the suppressive forces of the regime, which lead to the deaths and injuries of dozens of youths and fuel carriers.
The courageous young people in Saravan overturned and set fire to several State Security Force vehicles, and blocked the road leading to the IRGC base by setting tires alight.
Tensions are high in the city as clashes continue to rage on in various parts of the city between the people of Saravan on the one hand and the regime’s suppressive forces on the other.
