Maryam Rajavi condoled families of the mine explosion victims and blamed the tragedy on the Iranian regime
She reiterated that the corrupt clerical regime is responsible for this bitter accident and the large number of casualties.
“In similar conditions in other countries, the governments usually mobilize all their resources to aid those afflicted,” she said and added, “In Iran however, all the resources are either plundered or consumed to suppress the general public.”
Maryam Rajavi called on the people of Golestan and particularly the province’s youth to aid those injured in the explosion and families of the victims.
At 12.05 pm on Wednesday, May 3, dozens of mine workers got killed and more were injured in the explosion of Yort coal mine in Azadshahr, Golestan Province (northern Iran).
The state-run media have reported that the lifeless bodies of 35 workers have been pulled out, so far, with more victims of this shocking incident still stuck under the rubbles deep down in the mine.
One of the rescued mine workers said that yesterday, they smelt the odor of the gas in the mine. So, they readily informed the mine’s directors, to no avail. They did not pay attention.
The tunnels inside Azadshahr mine lack the minimum safety accommodations and in case of any accidents, there is not going to be oxygen for longer than 15 to 20 minutes.
The clerical regime, however, shamelessly blamed the workers for this accident. The Governor of Golestan pointed out that “the negligence of a repairman” had caused the explosion.
Rabii, the mullahs’ Labor Minister, also pointed his finger to the mine workers and said, “Apparently, the coal wagon had got stuck 700 meters deep down and workers had to jumpstart the wagon by using jumper cables, which led to the explosion.”
