Refusing to grant IAEA access to suspicious sites an act of deception to acquire atomic bomb
The religious fascism ruling Iran has again denied access to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to inspect two sites where nuclear activities are suspected to have taken place. The denial again showed that this regime will continue to deceive the international community in a bid to obtain nuclear weapons. Behrouz Kamalvandi, deputy head of the Iranian regime’s Atomic Energy Organization, said, “IAEA’s request has no legal and principal grounds…” Kazem Gharib-Abadi, the Iranian regime’s Ambassador to International Organizations in Vienna, wrote, “The IAEA has not offered any legal and credible justifications” for its request, adding, “IAEA is neither allowed to make such request, is the Islamic Republic obliged to do so (accept it)”.
A recent IAEA report warns of the serious consequences of violating the nuclear deal, failing to respond to the IAEA questions about previous activities in three sites, and refusing to allow access to sites where nuclear activities are suspected to have taken place. It called on the Iranian regime to fully and completely cooperate with the IAEA in accordance with the agreements and the Additional Protocol.
Subsequently, Rafael Grossi, Director General of IAEA, said in an interview with Reuters, “We have been requesting some information and access from Iran, but we haven’t been getting the information we require…We have insisted and despite all our efforts we have not been able to get that, so the situation requires on my part such a step because what this means is that Iran is curtailing the ability of the agency to do its work.”
The regime’s refusal to cooperate with the IAEA, a clear violation of the nuclear agreement, is another reason that the Iranian regime, despite enjoying the benefits of the nuclear agreement have never given up a cover-up to pursue its nuclear weapon program. Lack of transparency about the Possible Military Dimensions of its programs, the continued operation of the center for its Nuclear Weapon Program, (the Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research – SPND), and of its secret site for testing (Center for Research and Expansion of Technologies on Explosions and Impact – METFAZ), as well as the refusal to respond to the agency’s questions about traces of enriched uranium and to IAEA questions concerning the traces of highly-enriched uranium, and the denial of interviews with key experts and officials involved in its nuclear program are among such activities. These constitute not only a breach of the July 2015 Nuclear Agreement but also a blatant violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
Immediately after signing the Nuclear agreement (JCPOA), Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), reiterated that bypassing six UN Security Council resolutions would not block the mullahs’ deception and pathway to the atomic bomb. Today, the only way to block the regime’s nuclear activities is to reinstate those resolutions, to end the regime’s enrichment program, to shut down its nuclear sites, and to conduct anytime, anywhere inspections.
