Maryam Rajavi meets and holds talks with a delegation from the Republic of Slovenia
On Monday, October 9, 2023, Maryam Rajavi met and held talks with a delegation from the Republic of Slovenia headed by Mr. Milan Zver, a member of the European Parliament and the co-chairman of the EP Friends of a Free Iran inter-parliamentary group. The delegation also included Dr. Andreja Valic Zver, the director of the Study Center for National Reconciliation of the Republic of Slovenia and a member of the Board of Directors of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights, and Mr. Petier Suhel, adviser to the former Prime Minister of Slovenia.
Mr. Milan Zver was the Minister of Education and Sports of Slovenia before becoming a member of the European Parliament in 2009. In this meeting, he said: All indications are that the people of Iran are determined to overthrow Iran’s ruling dictatorship. Your movement is recognized worldwide for its 10-point plan, and you, as its president of the transitional period. It enjoys extensive support at the international level. It is very significant that more than 100 former leaders, presidents, and prime ministers of various countries with different political tendencies have supported your Resistance and the 10-point plan. Three prime ministers and presidents from different parties in my country are among those leaders, which indicates a political consensus in Slovenia in support of your Resistance. Your perseverance in the struggle against the religious dictatorship ruling Iran, your evident commitment to women’s rights, and women’s prominent role in the Iranian Resistance distinguish your movement from others.
Noting the clerical regime’s abuse of Islam, Mr. Zver said: You have proven that, contrary to many deviant propaganda, Islam is compatible with freedom and democracy. Iran’s ruling mullahs are the ones who have abused Islam, and the PMOI has stood up to them from the outset.
Addressing Maryam Rajavi, Milan Zver added: You are an iconic symbol for women and a role model for human rights in today’s world.
Maryam Rajavi expressed her gratitude to Mr. Zver for his and his colleagues’ activities in the Friends of a Free Iran inter-parliamentary group in the European Parliament in defending the rights of the PMOI in Ashraf as well as their support for the Iranian people’s uprising for a democratic republic.
She admired Mr. Zver’s political insight and strategic view of the issues in Iran and the Middle East and said: So far, 120,000 of the best children of Iranian people have sacrificed their lives in the struggle against the mullahs’ religious dictatorship. However, the Iranian people and Resistance are ready to pay any price to achieve freedom.
Maryam Rajavi added: Despite widespread and indiscriminate arrests, escalating repression, torture, and executions, Iran’s ruling theocracy has not been able to diffuse the volatile state of society and prevent the outbreak of more extensive uprisings. For this reason, and according to their all-time routine, they have resorted to war-mongering and exporting crises beyond the Iranian borders, which is well-known to the Iranian Resistance. Today, Khamenei uses Palestine as an excuse. Until yesterday, he spoke of the defenders of the shrine in Syria, and before that, he beat the drums of war and terrorism as the guardian of the Shiites in Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq and made it appear as a “sacred defense.”
The religious fascism ruling Iran continued the anti-patriotic war with Iraq while peace was at hand. Their slogan was “conquering Quds (Jerusalem) via Karbala.” As the regime officials have acknowledged, the Iranian Resistance was the only party that opposed the regime in this regard and finally compelled Khomeini to drink the “poison chalice” and accept the ceasefire.
