Maryam Rajavi meets MEPs Petras Austrevicius and Petri Sarvamaa
Maryam Rajavi met and held talks with a delegation from the European Parliament, including Mr. Petras Austrevicius, member of the EP Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Human Rights, and Mr. Petri Sarvamaa, at the headquarters of the National Council of Resistance in Paris.
In this meeting, Mr. Austrevicius emphasized the need for stronger sanctions against the mullahs’ dictatorship. He pointed out that Europe was reaching the understanding that the appeasement of the Iranian regime was a failed policy.
Mr. Sarvamaa also said, “As time passes, the Iranian regime becomes more oppressive, more criminal, and at the same time, more vulnerable. The day will come when the tide turns completely against this regime.”
Mrs. Rajavi expressed gratitude for the MEPs’ support for the Iranian people’s struggle for democracy. She emphasized that appeasing the ruling oppressors in Iran harms not only the Iranian people and Resistance but also Europe and the world. Europe and America appear weak and defenseless in the face of hostage-taking and terrorism. Nevertheless, experience has proven that the clerical regime is compelled to retreat when confronted with strength and determination. The reason for the Iranian Resistance’s endurance against this regime over the past 42 years lies precisely in their steadfastness and determination. Otherwise, like many others, they would have knelt and aligned themselves with one of the factions within the regime.
