Online Conference at the UK House of Lords
Maryam Rajavi: The mullahs’ regime is the primary source of warmongering and the worst enemy of peace in the region
On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, a conference was held at the UK House of Lords entitled “Support Iranian People’s Struggle for Human Rights and Justice.”
The conference featured members of both houses of the UK Parliament, jurists, and human rights activists who addressed the conference. They included Lord Alton of Liverpool, Lord Carlile of Berriew, Baroness O’Loan DBE MRIA, and members of the House of Commons, Bob Blackman, Dr. Liam Fox, Steve McCabe, Martyn Day and Jim Shannon. Professor Sara Chandler KC, Lauren Lederle, and Jocelynne Scutt AO were among the lawyers, judges, jurists, and human rights advocates who attended this meeting.
Maryam Rajavi joined online, and the conference began with her remarks. Excerpts of her speech:
Today, Iran’s issue goes beyond its borders and is no longer limited to the Iranian borders or even the Middle East.
The clerical regime is engaged in three wars at the same time: one against the international community, another against the people of the Middle East, and most significantly, a war against the people of Iran.
These conflicts are not due to the regime’s power; these are hopeless reactions to the Iranian people’s resistance against this religious tyranny, seeking to overthrow it.
The regime’s reaction includes a sharp increase in prisoner executions. Just in November, they executed at least 120 people in prisons, including supporters of the Mojahedin (PMOI/MEK) and courageous protesters. Another aspect is terrorism beyond Iran’s borders.
Noting the regime’s efforts against the PMOI and the NCRI, Maryam Rajavi said:
Since last July, they have talked a lot about the trial of 104 PMOI members in their absence. This show began today in Tehran.
Since two decades ago, the Iranian Resistance has been inviting Khamenei and other regime leaders to an international court to present any claim they had against the PMOI and the Iranian Resistance.
As expected, only the regime’s criminals, who pretended to be judges and lawyers, participated in this trial.
The regime has resorted to these theatrics, firstly, because of the Iranian people’s nationwide uprising. Secondly, with Resistance Units spreading in many Iranian cities, more young people are joining the PMOI and NCRI, gaining more political and social credibility. Thirdly, there is a robust global movement demanding that the regime’s leaders be tried for committing crimes against humanity.
Last October, 453 international jurists and legal institutes issued a statement condemning this mockery of justice by the clerical regime’s repressive Judiciary. In addition, 124 former world leaders have demanded the prosecution of the regime’s leaders for their crimes against humanity.
The conference continued with the speeches of members of both parliaments and other distinguished personalities, who offered their views on the correct policy against the clerical regime.
