Protest gathering of students’ families in Shahin Shahr
Repressive forces attacked and fired tear gas at protesters
Today, Saturday, April 15, the families of students in Shahin Shahr protested the poisoning of their children in front of the Education Department of this city. They chanted, “Death to the child-killing government,” “Death to the dictator,” “Death to the poisoner,” “The students would die; but they do not accept humiliation,” and “Hey, you are a disgrace; I am a free woman.” Repressive forces attacked the demonstrators and fired tear gas. People fought back with chants of “disgrace, disgrace”.
Thus far, at least eight schools and conservatories, including Manouchehr Ansari Girls’ School, Al Yassin Girls’ Conservatory, and Fahmideh School in Shahin Shahr, have been subjected to chemical attacks.
Today, students from various schools in Izeh, Sanandaj, Urmia, and Mahabad were poisoned, resulting in dozens of students being transported to medical centers for treatment.
On April 11, the regime’s judiciary website quoted Bahram Ainullahi, the Minister of Health, as saying, “We decided to call it the students’ illness because there was no solid evidence for the poisoning of the students.” He added, “In more than 90% of students’ unwellness, no poisoning is seen, and there is no poison. Mostly, we observed stress, and a small percentage was related to the mischief that took place and caused the students’ unwellness.” The regime’s judiciary spokesman also said on Tuesday, “We decided not to use the term poisoning anymore.”
In some cities, the regime’s security organs exerted pressure on students to admit that they themselves were responsible for poisoning their classmates.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi applauded the students and their families who protested today in Shahin Shahr and rose up with slogans of “death to the dictator.” They stood up against the attack and tear gas. She stated that the only way to confront the crimes of the ruling religious fascism, including those against innocent students, is through uprising, resistance, and maximum aggression.
